JaM Patch News ---- Patch's Monthly Sampler SaturdayHello Quilters;
Wasn't the Crazy Quilter's Quilt Show in Port Saint Lucie just wonderful? We take our hats off to all the hard workers of the Crazy Quilters who do it all for us. They are a fantastic group of women, and their hubby's, get quilts up and down faster than speeding bullets. We, especially, congratulate all the winners. We have included, at the bottom of this email, a complete list. But we would like to mention three of the top awards....Best of Show to Natalie Carlton with her Double Wedding Ring and then two winners voted on by the attendees ....The Challenge- Karen Marchetti for "Beauty of the Sea" and Viewer's Choice- Jeanne Whaley for "Reminiscence Plus 4". They were beautiful. I promise to get some pictures on our blog. Again, thank you to all who made the Show so terrific.
For those of you who might have missed this show, there is another one in our area on Friday, February 26th from 10am to 5pm and Saturday, February 27th from 10am to 4pm. This will be presented by the Palm Beach County Quilter's Guild at the North Palm Beach Community Center (1200 Prosperity Farms Road, No. Palm Beach, FL 33408.) It is called "Quilts of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" and for more information go to their website www.palmbchcoquiltersguild.com. We are sure you will enjoy it and don't forget to stop by our booth and make a purchase. There is a surprise that makes it worth it.
Okay, now many of you were surprised at the Show because there were things in our booth that you hadn't seen? We kept some goodies aside so you had not seen it all. But we do have more surprises at the store like the new "Out of Africa" series from Bigfork Bay Cotton Bay Company. The elephant is to die for and no one can not go "Oh!!!!" to the giraffe and her baby. Every new piece is in the quality of work we have grown accustom to. There is also an Eagle but his sample is not here nor have we been able to complete him....but this is one to definitely take a look at it. We have pictured them on the blog at www.jampatch.blogspot.com.
This weekend is the finish class, at 11am, of the Northern Light with Nancy Smith but at 9:30am there will be the presentation for the Patch's Monthly Sampler. For those of you participating, please bring your blocks you have completed with you and we will be discussing design, color, and contrast. On Wednesday morning we will begin at 9:00am with our presentation and then we will work on the Palm Tree. It will be a class on Paper Piecing using the Carol Doak's method. The pieces to produce the wonderful palm tree are so small, that actually doing it the "old fashion" way works the easiest. Everyone who is participating is welcome to attend. Please have your palm tree copies on paper piecing paper so we can begin together. Bring your sewing machine, supplies, cutting mat, rotary cutter, etc. Be sure to also have a small pair of scissors to snip and we will begin paper piecing sewing through the paper. I guess I should also add and your patience as the first time is always stressful but once you get going it will be fun.
