For all of you who want to learn to quilt or who have quilted but never felt you are doing it the right way, this is the class for you.  This class starts at the beginning and at the end of the sessions, if you have done your homework, you will have a completed quilt top.  Alex Anderson's "Start Quilting" is the book used for this class and, if you are smitten with it, a  beginning class 2 will also be done from this book.  You will learn to properly cut with a rotary cutter, sew a quarter inch seam and more,  This is the class you have been waiting for to learn how to quilt.  There is a class scheduled in the evening and the next morning.

Classes two and three are Monday, August 16th  and Monday, August 23rd.Classes end at 12:30pm.

This class is designed to learn the basics of beginning piecing, thread, and rotary cutting. It is definitely for the person who knows nothing or just a cursory knowledge of piecing. You will be at a Beginner‘s skill level when completed. Besides needing a sewing machine that is in good working condition and that you are familiar, you will need the following basic notions:

Rotary Cutter; two rulers for rotary cutting (6-1/2” square and 6-1/2” x 24-1/2” ruler); rotary cutting mat; scissors; thread; and fabric marking pencil.

This class is designed for you to complete the piecing of a wall hanging that is 41-1/2” x 41-1/2”. You will need good quality quilting fabric and it is suggested that this be purchased at the JaM Patch so we can be sure of the quality. If you follow the instructions and do your homework, you will have a top finished in class three. The next step necessary will be to learn in a follow-up class on how to quilt it and bind it. Piecing is also referred to as patchwork, it is only when you join the three layers together that it is a quilt.
