Natalie Carlton
I have been addicted to quilting for 11 years and try to get
anyone who crosses my path addicted. Having taught for 4
years, I look forward to every class. I enjoy hanging out with
other fabric junkies and have met many talented local quilters
with the same obsession. I have been involved in the
Thimblebuddies Quilt Guild since it started in 1997. I have
held the positions of Librarian, Block of the Month,
Newsletter, Vice President, Ways of Means and Program (2
years). I also worked at a Quilt Shop for 2 ½ years and now
run a Longarm Quilting Service, established in 2004. When I’m
not quilting, I’m taking care of my wonderful family, while
they put up with my addiction.

Carol Graves I have been sewing
and quilting for nearly all my life learning at my
grandmother’s knee. I have made my own clothes as early
as junior high and continued to sew for my daughter and even
made her wedding dress and the dresses for the bridesmaids and
flower girl. I enjoy teaching others to sew and to quilt
and to help them gain an appreciation for creating something
beautiful, whether it is a garment or a quilt. I enjoy
most types of quilting and have taught classes in pieced
quilts, fusible appliqué, and garment construction. I
have been married to my husband Lee for 18 years and between
us we have 4 children and 10 grandchildren.

Kathy Rentz Back in ’96 a friend, Pat Foust,
and I were at the college to sign up for a computer course and
well, to make a long story short, we ended up in our first
quilting class. What a ride it has been since. I always knew I
would quilt one day since my grandmother was an avid quilter
and I learned to admire and respect quilts at a young age. I
thought I would be older when I would start to quilt but
already there is not enough time to make all the quilts that
are in my head. I’m glad I started when I did.
I enjoy taking as many classes as I can and I have had the
honor to take classes from many different teachers including
several award winning national teachers. I want to know every
technique out there and then share it. I enjoy designing my
own quilts but also enjoy using a pattern, there are so many
creative people out there. I also enjoy creating my own fabric
by dying it, painting it, embroidery, foiling, crayons, beads,
crystals, etc. etc. etc.
I
have enjoyed teaching at a couple of quilt shops. I am a
member of the American Quilter’s Society, a charter member of
the Thimblebuddies Quilt Guild of the Treasure
Coast and
charter member of fibeArT a small surface design art quilt
group.
I hope to offer some fun classes where we can all learn from
each other. My classes range from beginner to dedicated
quilters passionate to learn more.
I am a Florida native living
in Palm City for the last 24
years. After living in the Caribbean for several years, my life,
soul and quilts reflect its influence. And best of all, I get
to share my passion with my daughter whom has recently caught
the quilting bug.

Michele
Sanandajian
One spring Saturday morning,
I awoke with a vision; “I will make a quilt this weekend.” I
proceeded to tell my husband. He reluctantly said, “OK, do you
know how to quilt?” I responded, “No, but I had a dream about
it last night, and I think I can do it!” By the end of the
next day, the quilt was pieced, quilted, bound and
embellished. My life has not been the same since.
I somehow miraculously
designed and created a dozen more large-scale quilts and
quilted art pieces in the next two months, and then decided
that I will take some classes to perfect my skills. Obviously,
someone else was guiding me, because these pieces were just
creating themselves! Twelve years later, I have my own
freelance design company and get to play with fibers and art
everyday.
My professionally education
is from Parsons School of Design, in NYC, NY. I receive a
Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a concentration in illustration
and printmaking. I also graduated from the Art Institute of
Fort. Lauderdale, Florida receiving a second bachelor’s
degree in graphic design.
Working with yarns, threads
and fabrics began when I was five or six. I would spend every
weekend at my great grandmother’s side; for countless hours we
would draw on fabric and then cover our designs with
embroidery, and cruel work while sitting at the kitchen table.
I never learned that she was a quilter until many years after
she passed away and her daughter, my grandmother, gave me a
few of her quilts.
It is my passion to combine
my fiver art with my fine art. I am always looking to expand
and push the limits with fiber and textiles. I design my own
patterns and rarely follow someone else’s patterns. I am
always inspired by fiber artist’s ideas and techniques. I will
experiment and try to incorporate them into my own
work.
I believe that everyone has
the ability to create art and that no two artist’s work should
ever look exactly the same. I have been teaching in the art
field for twenty years. I believe that it is my job as a
teacher to guide you on your won artistic adventure. It is
always my pleasure and my honor to play with my students and
my friends. I hope to offer some progressive classes with lots
of fun techniques and ideas. It is my goal that we all have
fun. After all, there are no
mistakes!! |
